Which cooktop is best for me?

Cooktop buying guide

Scroll down

There are a few things to consider when buying a new cooktop. There’s the type of heating system (induction or gas), the size, surfaces and a whole range of innovative features to choose from. This guide is the perfect place to start.

Which type of cooktop is best for me?

The Siemens cooktop range includes induction, gas and venting cooktops.

What size cooktop do I need?

Cooktops range in width from small (35cm dominos) to extra-large (90cm). The size you need depends on how much space is available in your kitchen and your cooking habits. However, if you already have an rangehood installed, choose a cooktop that is the same size or slightly smaller.

Induction cooktop sizes

Standard width

Most electric induction cooktops come in a standard width of 60cm. This is the most common width of niches in the kitchen.

80cm width

Ceramic, ventilation and induction cooktops all come in larger widths of 80cm.

90cm width

For full flexibility and freedom in cooking, the largest 90cm cooktop width has space for six pots and pans.

Gas cooktop sizes

Standard width

Most gas cooktops come in a standard dimension of 60cm wide x 50cm deep x 5cm high.

75cm width

For a larger cooking area, you could choose a 75cm wide gas cooktop which includes a 5th cooking zone.

90cm width

For serious cooking space, you could choose a larger gas cooktop with a width of 90cm.

Small width

For compact spaces, you could choose a gas cooktop with a 30cm width

What gas cooktop surfaces can I choose from?

There are two types of surfaces for gas cooktops: tempered glass / ceramic and stainless steel.

Tempered glass / Ceramic surface

The uniquely beautiful black tempered glass / ceramic surface design is extremely heat-resistant, easy to clean and features cast iron pan supports with rubber feet.

Stainless steel surface

The high-quality stainless-steel surface design is easy to clean and provides contrast with the continuous cast iron pan supports.

What is a flexible induction zone?

These are additional heating zones that increase the total cooking area available when needed. For example, when using a large pot that extends beyond the standard induction zones.

Cook with flexibility: flexInduction

Siemens flexInduction and felxInduction Plus give you the power to adjust your cooktop to meet your needs. This intelligent feature automatically detects the number, size and shape of your cookware and combines the rectangular cooking zones so that they are perfectly suited to the size and form of your cookware.
